Gov Lifts Condo Rental Restrictions

The BC Government has recently change the laws around the restrictions that condos owners / strata corporations can vote on and adopt.  In an effort to impact the housing shortage, they have have changed the ability for strata corporations to uphold current bylaw rental restrictions, thus allowing all condo owners to rent their condos out.

This focus precludes short term rentals and there are many people on both sides of the fence.  Many condo owners feels this will have a negative impact on their building wear and tear, and negatively impacting property values.

They have also removed age restrictions (no people under 18 years for example) but are allowing for age restrictions for no residents under 55.
