BC has had a brutal summer with an extreme level of forest fires. It is horrible to see so many towns being burned or choked out from the smoke.
Once again, it makes me realize how lucky and fortunate I am (we are) to live in North Vancouver.
If you frequent any of the local parks, you will have noticed warnings about our forests and wooded areas being at high risk of catching fire. The City and District have postings stating no use of BBQs, smoking or camp fires and yet I am still shocked to see people sitting in parks having a smoke.
It might be time to increase the fines and have the parks more closely monitored to ensure people are not acting carelessly.
